How to Block a Website On Your PC


The internet is full of different websites, in which some websites also tracks your browsing history, display bothering pop up ads and also some website are full of viruses, that may infect your PC. And if you are a responsible parent, who does not want his child to waste his time on Facebook, Twitter or visit other malicious websites.

However, to block a website on your computer, you first have to access your Windows Hosts file. Well, the Windows Hosts file is basically a simple text file, which can be opened and edited in Notepad. The Windows Hosts file converts the host names into the numbers, which are known as IP Addresses, that are also used to search and locate a host in the IP network.
So, today I am gonna show you that how you can block a website on your PC without using any third-party program, to make it more secure and safe. So, without wasting much of your time, let’s get started with our tutorial.

Follow the below given steps to block a website on your computer.
  • First of all, you have to click on Computer and go to your root directory, in which your Windows is installed, which is mostly C drive.
  • Then you have to browse to the following location C:/ Drive => Windows =>System32 => drivers => etc.
  • Now, double click on the Hosts file and open it using the Notepad.
  • After opening the file in Notepad, locate to 127.0.0.1 and then hit Enter key to start with a new line.
  • Now, in the new line, type 127.0.0.1 and then type the address of the website that you want to block on your computer. For example, 127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com
  • You can block as many websites as you want but you have to type 127.0.0.1 first and then enter the address of the website.
  • That’s it! You are done! Now, you can easily block websites on your computer without installing any third-party programs or applications.
