Well, shutting down a computer remotely is not a very difficult task to do and also does not requires you to be a computer nerd or expert. But first you must have to learn the appropriate method to remote shutdown a computer or else you will be getting an error constantly which can drive you crazy. So, if you want to remotely shutdown a computer on your network then follow the below given steps.
  • First of all, you have to open up the Command Prompt. To do so, click on Start button and then type CMD in the search box and hit Enter key on your keyboard.
  • Now, in the Command Prompt window, you have to type net view and then hit Enterkey.
  • Then, you will see a list of the computers which are connected on your network connection. Simply choose any one of the computer which you want to remote shutdown and also remember its complete name.
  • After that, just type shutdown -m \\nameofpc (For example, shutdown -m \\Home-PC) and then hit Enter key. 
  • That’s it! You are done! Now, your targeted computer will be shutdown.
