For Tiff

If you want the Tiff formats for your screenshots all the time, then you need to write the following command in the Terminal and hit enter.
defaults write com.apple.screencapture type tiff;killall SystemUIServer

For PNG (Reverting)

If you want the PNG format back for your screenshots all the time, then you need to write the following command in the Terminal and hit enter.
defaults write com.apple.screencapture type png;killall SystemUIServer
